Marshals Exam Instructions

If you are here to take the marshals exam, please do the following…

1. Be sure you have notified the Marshals Service staff of your intention to take the exam. NOTE: Prospective marshals are allowed ONLY THREE attempts to pass the exam, so be sure you have spoken to your Marshals Service point of contact (POC) to ensure you are prepared prior to proceeding.
2. If you are ready, Create an account or login using the form provided to the right.

4. You will have 2 hours 30 mins. to complete the exam.
5. Once you begin, the test cannot be paused. Failure to finish the test will count as one of your three attempts.  Notify your Marshals Service POC immediately if you have technical issues.
6. You will have the opportunity to review the test to be sure you answered all questions, etc. prior to the submitting the exam for grading.  A graphic display will color code all questions and allow you to navigate them quickly.
7. After submitting the test, your grade will be presented. 80% is pass, under 80% is a fail. You can immediately review the questions you missed.  If you PASS, see #8.  FAIL see #9.
8. Once you pass, you will be able to download a certificate with the provided link, and it will also be emailed to you and CMS staff as well.
9. If you failed, you can retake the exam in 30 days.  A second fail will result in an additional 30 day study period.  IF you fail a third time, you must wait a year to try again.
